Why I Chose Wedding Photography: A Legacy of Love and Celebration
Growing Up in the Wedding Industry
Wedding photography isn’t just a job for me—it’s in my blood. My journey began long before I ever picked up a camera. My parents built their wedding business from scratch, starting in our garage, and over the years, I watched them grow into a well-known name in Central Florida’s wedding scene.
For 23 years, I had a front-row seat to the magic behind weddings. Every weekend, I was behind the scenes, seeing firsthand how much effort went into making a couple’s big day flawless. From intricate floral arrangements to perfectly placed linens, I learned early on that weddings weren’t just about the ceremony—it was about creating an unforgettable experience.
A Childhood Surrounded by Weddings
My parents owned a wedding decorating business, and my mom was a florist. We provided everything from linens and bouquets to flower arrangements and centerpieces. I was always given small responsibilities, and I took pride in every task, no matter how small. My favorite part? Delivering flowers to brides and bridesmaids and witnessing their pure joy as my mom brought their vision to life.
Some of my earliest memories involve setting up weddings in hotels and ballrooms across Orlando—Wyndham Orlando Resort, Buena Vista Palace, DoubleTree Hotel, Embassy Suites, and many more. I spent hours watching my parents rearrange, perfect, and ensure that every single detail was just right. It was more than just business; it was their passion.
The Unexpected Path to Wedding Photography
Despite growing up immersed in the wedding industry, I never imagined I’d follow in my parents’ footsteps. My goal was to become a doctor. I spent years in school, but just a few semesters away from earning my Biomedical Sciences degree, I realized my heart wasn’t in it. The passion was gone. I needed to find what truly made me happy.
At the time, I was running a small candle and T-shirt business, both of which failed. But during that period, I had purchased a camera. I started experimenting—photographing objects, florals, and people. And then, something clicked. The more I practiced, the more my love for photography grew. My first wedding shoot led to another, and then another, and before I knew it, I was exactly where I was meant to be.
Why Wedding Photography?
Of all the things I could have pursued, wedding photography became my passion because it allows me to capture the most precious moments in people’s lives. Weddings aren’t just about two individuals—they’re about families coming together, love being celebrated, and lifelong memories being made.
My upbringing gave me a unique advantage. Many of my friends already knew my parents’ reputation in the industry. When it came time for them to get married, they needed a photographer they could trust—someone who truly understood weddings from the inside out. And that’s exactly what I offer.
My Unique Approach to Capturing Weddings
Growing up in the wedding world taught me one important thing: attention to detail is everything. Brides and grooms spend months planning their big day, but when the moment finally arrives, they’re often too caught up in the excitement to take in every little detail. That’s where I come in.
I make sure to capture the moments they might not remember—small details, private glances, and intimate moments shared between the couple. Often, the bride and groom are so focused on their guests that they don’t get enough photos together. I make sure they do.
My goal is to deliver an album that brings them right back to their wedding day, allowing them to relive every emotion, every smile, and every detail.
Carrying on the Family Legacy
The most rewarding part of this journey is knowing that I am continuing my parents’ legacy—just with a different twist. They built their dream from the ground up, and now, I’m doing the same. I remember watching them work late nights to ensure their clients’ weddings were perfect, and now, I find myself doing the exact same.
My future in wedding photography excites me because I know I’m creating something meaningful—not just for myself, but for the couples who trust me to capture their most cherished memories.
